Update on the communication sent to Fergus McCann to unfurl this season's Championship Flag!

Update on the communication sent to Fergus McCann to unfurl this season's Championship Flag!
After a fair bit of interest from Celtic fans on Twitter to invite Fergus over to Glasgow from his home in Boston to unfurl the Championship Flag on August 4th, a communication was sent to him after a meeting between myself and a close friend of Fergus’, with a tentative approach as to whether he’d first of all be interested. Understandably he was non-committal with the idea floated to him, basically because Celtic would first of all have to make the approach to Fergus in an official manner.
To date Celtic has not asked him and that’s where we stand at the moment.
A petition has been set up at www.octavedoctor.com  where over 1,700 fans have voted 99% in favour. Perhaps if enough interest was created, by say between 5,000-7,000 voting in favour, then Celtic would hopefully take notice. Let’s give it a try and hopefully wipe out a bad memory for the man who put his money where his mouth was on March 4th 1994 steering us well clear of the position Rangers are in today. Hail Hail.

Alternative View Summer Issue (131) content details

Alternative View Issue 131 content details
The Summer Issue of the Alternative View is out now, is written by Celts fans and is packed with content Celtic fans are interested in & concerned about.
Bryan McManus’s article ‘We know fine our Club has been cheated out of Trophies & Money’ talks about how Rangers have ran their club in comparison to Celtic who have paid their bills along the way. He offers a real insight into how cheats have operated and why they must be punished.
Nick Harris – SJA Internet Sports Writer of the year analysis the massive amount of money the English Premiership Clubs receive, explaining its breakdown & charting the total amounts. For example Champions Man City received £60,602,289m compared to bottom club Wolves receiving £39,084,681.In comparison to the paltry amount that Celtic receive which is approx £2.8m per year.
Marcas O’Greachian focuses on the Irish teams European Championship history, Celtic’s presence within the squad, the Souness effect on Rangers & Murray’s downfall along with having a look at Darren O’Dea being in the Euro squad but not in Celtic’s.
Colm Currie’s column ‘Even if they managed to spell ‘tainted’ the maths is obviously their difficult part’ looks at how ridiculous it is to even suggest that winning the SPL by 20 points could remotely be a tainted title, and also suggests that winning the title that early changed the course of Celtic team selections.
Phil Mac Giolla Bhain’s article ‘Welcome to ‘Lenny World’, looks in a sensitive but serious way as to how Neil Lennon lives his life in Scotland just because he is the manager of Celtic FC. The abnormal security measures Neil has to take with his family and the pressures that go with living like that. Phil also looks at Neil’s signings, his tactics, his captain’s part and the role of Giorgios Samaras at the Club.
It’s Report Card time Bhoys’ is a seven page look at our team! Who may be going, who is worth keeping, along with our perceived value of each member of the Celtic squad. It’s at times a light hearted look and at other times there’s a serious side as to who is good enough for our squad with our usual added satire.
Allan Edgar’s article ‘Can someone at Celtic explain our season book price hike? Whilst also having a look at the lesser amount top Bundesliga clubs charge! Is exactly as it says, with Allan making excellent points regarding the high amount that Celtic FC charge its own fans and the product that goes with it! He also succinctly charts the Bundesliga admission prices and shows the cheapest price for each fan to gain entry to their clubs stadium. For example to watch the European Champions Bayern Munich the cheapest adult season book price is only £96.49 pence.
Celts fan Stevie Meighan writes about his ‘Away Days in Europe’ titled ‘The Psychology and Physiology of Victory and Defeat – Following the Tic’ in Europe.’ It’s a baws oot account from a father who reminded his son in Rennes that when watching Celtic abroad, how important it is to be an Ambassador for the Club. But how it all kind of ended up much differently!
Our fans section ‘Shootin from the Lip’ interviews Peter Cassidy from Castlemilk, Glasgow. Peter answers matters on Celtic where he intelligently points out many issues that go around in the Celtic world and offers his opinion on many points that Celts fans are interested in.
The AV Editorial titled ‘UEFA may well become the biggest judge of all in the district of Ibrox’ covers the stance that Celtic must take if a Newco situation arises at Ibrox. The effect that crucial decision will have on the Club’s own fans! It also looks at the bizarre way Duff & Phelps have ran RFC since taking over by preserving Rangers but ignoring creditors. The porn ego who brought the Craig Whyte deal to Ibrox and how Paul Baxendale Walker thinks he should be considered a “Hero” to Rangers fans if the big tax case is not found against RFC. It also takes a look at Mark Daly’s latest hilarious manic BBC programme on the state of Rangers and our comment on the consequences and integrity of allowing Rangers back into the SPL unpunished.
There are also some excellent graphics throughout the magazine, with a particularly tremendous colour image of Billy McNeill with the European Cup as we pay tribute to the Lisbon Lions 45th Anniversary.
Details are also included of theAlternative View Question & Answer Roadshow evenings, available to Celtic Supporters Clubs or organised Celtic fan gatherings. With Matt McGlone, Phil Mac Giolla Bhain & either Frank McGarvey or Frank McAvennie in attendance taking and answering your questions.
